Monday Tech Talks: National Internet Safety Month Webinar Series

June is National Internet Safety Month.

As part of the NDAA’s commitment to bolstering online safety for children we are bringing you a series of webinars in the month of June to provide law enforcement, prosecutors, their investigators and other members of the prosecution team with a comprehensive understanding of how to work with and gather digital evidence from a variety of digital platforms. We are also highlighting the work being done by non-governmental organizations and other organizations to protect children online.  This series has been made possible with the support of Kodex.

On June 16, 2025, Mysti Degani, Senior Counsel, Trust & Safety at Discord will join us to discuss their law enforcement response program and the platform’s safety initiatives.  We will also hear from William R. McKeen, Founder of The re_direct Project, a nonprofit working to give kids a safe place to go online.

Discord is the communications platform that enables people aged 13+ to build meaningful connections around the joy of playing games through voice, video, and text features.

The re_direct Project is a pioneering whole-of-society approach to some of the most pernicious issues facing our young people in their online lives. Current and former law enforcement, defense attorneys, and former cybercriminals have come together to build programs designed to surround our youngest digital citizens from the moment they become active online, to their first job in tech. We partner with major tech companies, other non-profits, and experts in the criminal justice system to meet our young people where they are. We are building community to secure the digital futures of Gen Z and Gen A.

Who Should Attend: This webinar is ideal for prosecutors, investigators, and law enforcement involved in child exploitation cases or any case containing digital evidence.

Q&A Session: Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions during the registration process as well as during the presentation. There will also be a dedicated Q&A session at the end.

Eligibility:

This webinar is limited to prosecutors, investigators within prosecutors’ offices, and law enforcement in local, state, tribal, federal and military government attorneys’ offices and jurisdictions. Attendees will need to register with their office or agency e-mail.

Continuing Legal Education Credits:

Continuing Legal Education Credits: NDAA will apply for CLE credit in Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia based on state requirements and guidelines. All other attorneys seeking CLE credit should contact their state bar for more information. At the conclusion of the course and after completion of the electronic evaluation survey, all attendees will receive a uniform continuing education certificate that they may use to report their continuing education hours to their state bar or reporting agency.
