On-Demand Webinar: Ethical Issues in Charging Considerations
60-minute presentation
1.00 CLE Credit
You have been assigned a cold case homicide that has garnered national media attention. The case has been presented to the grand jury and indicted. What information do you share with the probation agency during its pre-sentence investigation? The defense has made an offer; what considerations come into play in a negotiated plea? What input do you need? Should you consider collateral consequences? What charges should the defendant admit? What are our obligations with respect to restitution? What are your ethical obligations to understand the effects and efficacy of the offer? How do you convey and document the offer? What are your discovery obligations post-plea? Our seasoned faculty member will discuss these issues and other professional responsibility topics. Come prepared to consider the ethical considerations that occur in a plea and sentencing case in your jurisdiction.
This program may qualify for 1.00 hour of legal ethics credit.
