This practical presentation is designed for prosecutors and multidisciplinary team members involved in prosecuting or handling child exploitation cases. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to effectively prepare and present CSAM cases in court.
From organizing your case and evidence for trial, preparing witnesses to testify, working with law enforcement/expert witnesses, to using technology in the courtroom, making a clean record, and working with a victim—this presentation covers all the bases. In cases involving a live victim, we will discuss trauma-centered considerations while pursuing justice for the victim.

Lorena Vollrath-Bueno

National District Attorneys Association
Lorena Vollrath-Bueno is the Vice President of Education & Engagement of the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA), having joined the NDAA in April of 2023 after spending almost twenty (20) years as a prosecutor at both the state and federal levels. Her most recent prosecutorial position was with the State Attorney’s Office, 2nd Judicial Circuit, as a Chief Assistant and Education Coordinator. While there, she specialized in the prosecution of homicides, sex crimes, child exploitation, human trafficking, ICAC, as well as being the human trafficking subject matter expert for the office.
Mrs. Vollrath-Bueno has lectured for a variety of agencies regarding sexual violence, domestic violence, human trafficking, and digital and forensic evidence presentation. She has lectured for the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association (FPAA), the Office of the Attorney General, the Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute (FCPTI), the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV), including their grant-funded program “Excellence in Sexual Assault Response”; the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (FAWL); the Salvation Army Human Trafficking Symposium; and the Florida Department of Corrections during their National Crime Victim’s Rights Week.
Mrs. Vollrath-Bueno provided training to the Internet Crimes Against Children Investigators (ICAC) across the United States and taught overseas for the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC). She also presented at the 2024 Florida ICAC/CART/Offender Registration and Enforcement Conference.
In April 2021, she received the Kathy Ray Law Enforcement Official of the Year Award, presented during National Crime Victim’s Rights Week by the Big Bend Victim Assistance Coalition (BBVAC). In September of that same year, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement awarded her (and others involved in the operation) the Florida Missing Children’s Day Commissioner’s Award for Meritorious Service in “Operation Stolen Innocence,” a large-scale investigation and prosecution of the sex trafficking of a child.
Continuing Legal Education Credits:
Continuing Legal Education Credits: This course has been approved for 1.50 credit hours in Illinois, Tennessee, Virginia and Kansas. NDAA has applied for CLE credit in Pennsylvania, Texas, Mississippi and Ohio based on state requirements and guidelines. All other attorneys seeking CLE credit should contact their state bar for more information. At the conclusion of the course and after completion of the electronic evaluation survey, all attendees will receive a uniform continuing education certificate that they may use to report their continuing education hours to their state bar or reporting agency.
